Technique

"The Ease of Speech Singing Technique" is a way of using your voice that allows you to sing freely and clearly anywhere in your range, with all your words clearly understood. Since you are not learning what to sing but rather how to sing, you can apply this technique to any type of music." ... Tom McKinney

How does The Ease of Speech Singing Technique differ from other vocal training methods?

This singing technique approaches the voice on a speaking level, meaning that it should be no more difficult to sing than it is to speak.  I work with the student to build a bridge between the low voice (chest voice) and the high voice (head voice), combining those parts in the middle range to create the “mix” that most singers struggle to master and most teachers don’t understand how to teach.

How long does it usually take for someone to realize improvement in their singing or speaking quality using this method?

Students who apply themselves to this technique can see an improvement in their vocal production a very few weeks.

How much singing or speaking experience do I need in order to be a successful student using this method?

Previous vocal study is not required to pursue the technique, only a commitment from the student to practice the exercises each day between lessons.

Is the technique adaptable to different styles of music?

This technique has been utilized by major recording and performance artists to win more than 140 "Grammy" awards, from "Pop, Rock, Country, Contemporary Christian, to R & B," and also 8 Metropolitan Opera Winners. This technique teaches HOW to use the voice correctly and without strain, so the student can choose whatever style of music he or she wishes to pursue.

How do I find a qualified teacher in my area and around the country?

Tom McKinney has personally trained Associate Teachers in Houston, Dallas, Austin, NYC, Italy, and Germany.  He is part of a network of associated teachers of this technique, which covers California, Chicago, Florida, Nashville, Texas, and Europe.
