Solange Knowles was born and raised in Houston, Texas along with her older sister singer Beyoncé Knowles of pop group Destiny’s Child and has studied vocal technique with Tom McKinney and the Tom McKinney Vocal Studios for more than 7 years. Solange calls on McKinney for work with her voice when she is about to go on tour or into the recording studio to record an album. Showing an interest in music recording at an early age, she eventually broke into the music scene at 16. She has released two studios albums: Solo Star in 2003 and Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams in 2008.
