Voice Lessons
Tom McKinney’s approach to singing, called “Singing with the Ease of Speech” technique, allows one to sing freely and clearly anywhere in one’s range, with all the words clearly understood. Since one is not learning “WHAT” to sing but rather “HOW” to sing, this technique can be applied to any genre of music.
How does the “Ease of Speech Vocal Technique” differ from other vocal training methods?
“Singing with the Ease of Speech,” also known as “Speech Level Singing Technique”, approaches the voice on a speaking level, meaning that it should be no more difficult to sing than it is to speak clearly and precisely. Tom works with students to build a bridge through the “break”, also known as the “passaggio”, (”passage”) between the low voice (chest voice) and the high voice (head voice), combining those parts in the middle range to create the “mix” that most singers struggle to master and most voice teachers don’t understand how to teach.
How long does it usually take to realize improvement in one’s singing, or speaking abilities using this method?
Student’s who apply themselves to this technique with regular practice, can usually feel and hear an improvement in their vocal skills in a few short weeks.
How much singing, or acting experience do I need in order to be successful using this method?
Previous vocal study is not required to pursue the “Ease of Speech Singing Technique”, only the student’s commitment to practice the vocal exercises and follow the instruction and advice of the teacher.
TOM McKINNEY IS THE ONLY MASTER INSTRUCTOR OF “THE EASE OF SPEECH VOCAL TECHNIQUE” IN TEXAS, AND THE SOUTHWESTERN UNITED STATES.
